Dresden Files: Vancouver
Dresden Files: When it rains, it pours.
The Dresdenverse is a world of barely concealed supernatural wonder. Entities, both beautiful and terrible, inhabit the secretive or dark corners just out of sight of the mortal world. The world is one where most myths and legends are based in truth, somewhere, sometime.
Our campaign is set in the city of Vancouver. An international hub, it draws in visitors and oddities from all over the world. As one of the older cities in all of Canada, Vancouver has an interesting and varied history. In the modern age, Vancouver is a vibrant hub of life and trade in the pacific north.
The Dresden Files RPG is a game more based in Role Playing that Roll Playing. It uses a comprehensive system of plot ‘aspects’ and plot currency, called ‘Fate Points’. As this game is more story based than anything else, the plot will be significantly based on the characters. Characters should be in depth and flavorful, and any one of the characters should be interesting and complex enough to have a story told about them.
Major Themes of the campaign are focused around Vancouver, and the aspect ‘When it rains, it pours’. Inspiration for the overplot has been drawn from many sources, including the Bible, Mormonism, Hans Christian Anderson, Norse Faith, Armageddon, Ragnarok, and the Dresden Files novels. The city is dark and rainy, yet somehow beautiful because of it. You think that the weather couldn’t get any worse, yet somehow, it does. The stories of Vancouver all seem to reflect this, a seeming pall of bad luck covering the region.
